The Enchantment of Lawang Sewu Museum in Semarang, an Educational Tool for Railway History

Traveling while gaining knowledge visiting Lawang Sewu, Semarang, Central Java can
be your choice. In the past, Lawang Sewu was an office building owned by a private
railway company from the Netherlands that served transportation from Central Java to
Batavia. Lawang Sewu is named because it means a building with a thousand doors in
Javanese. In 1994, Lawang Sewu was handed over to PT Kereta Api Indonesia, and in
2009, it was restored and became a cultural heritage in 2011. Currently, the Lawang
Sewu building is used as a museum, a tourist attraction, and education on the history of
railways.
