President Jokowi has been planning to move the IKN capital city from Jakarta to
Kalimantan since 2019. Having become a pro and con by some experts, the
government is still formulating the right budget, but on the one hand, the ministries haveyet to be unanimous regarding the source of funds. Speaker of the House of
Representatives Puan Maharani finally passed the draft of the IKN Law into law.
Several economic observers assessed that the state would bear a huge burden to build
IKN while trying to recover from the pandemic.
