Some residents of Chinese descent are busy cleaning their family’s bong or tomb. What
they do at the graves of their deceased relatives is called Cengbeng. In Hokkien, it is
called Qing Ming Yang, meaning respect for ancestors and family who have passed
away. The tradition of Ceng Beng dates back to the Ming dynasty. Even the youngest
generations are taught to respect their ancestors.
