Jakarta’s air quality is back in the spotlight. Based on the air quality index or AQI report, Jakarta occupied the first position of the worst air quality in the world. Head of the Air and Waste Management Research Group of the Bandung Institute of Technology, Puji Lestari, assessed that the policies of the Governor of DKI Jakarta have yet to be solutive. In addition, Greenpeace Climate and Energy Campaigner Bondan Andriyanu questioned what future steps the DKI Provincial Government would take. The dangers of air pollution and the inadequacy of government policies mean that people must be more active in protecting their health and understand how to protect their health by wearing masks. Jakarta’s poor air quality has an impact on health. Coordination between the Provincial and Central governments is needed to formulate policies to reduce air pollution.
