Rapid business turbulence, along with internal and external shocks, is being
experienced by Garuda Indonesia. The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs)
previously stated that the state-owned airline, Garuda Indonesia, is technically bankrupt
due to its debt burden. Irfan Setiaputra, Garuda Indonesia’s Managing Director,
responded to this, stating that Garuda Indonesia is technically bankrupt but that the fact
remains that the airline is still flying with optimum service and open ticket bookings for
the foreseeable future.
