Sebanyak 22 kasus penyelundupan BBL berhasil digagalkan petugas gabungan TNI\/Polri dengan nilai kurang lebih 227 miliar rupiah di 11 wilayah Indonesia. Terkait hal itu, Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP) berupaya menanggulanginya dengan menerbitkan Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan (Permen KP) No. 7 Tahun 2024.
